Ableton Demos

Recently bought a copy of Ableton Live 9 – a complete turnabout from Logic Express for audio recording. Really getting into the live recording features…haven’t figured out multi-tracking yet.

Safety First
I like to think of this song as a ride through a dystopic landscape. The recorded version will have many of the verses cut out – I tend to get “Dylany.” Who knows, in the end maybe do 2 versions, short and long. The verse is the landscape – the chorus is sort of a cry from within. “Here I am, that’s all of me. My blood, brain – like rivers flood. All of you are acting strange. Some put safety first.” I’m trying to figure out a way to add Taos Pueblo drumming or songs into this.

Long Time Gone
This song is from a time in my life right after my girlfriend of 9 years and I broke up. I knew I had to give up, she had given me no faith in the future of the thing, and I loved her so. I was traveling back and forth from Pittsburgh to New York to leave the scene behind, follow up on some past romantic feelings, what have you – renting a room from a friend in Bushwick at the time. Did you know that rats can literally climb up out of the toilet in Brooklyn? I saw it with my own eyes. Guitar and bass tuning off in chorus – will redo.
